Trump Expresses Doubt About Going to Heaven
While traveling aboard Air Force One to Israel on Sunday, Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked the president if ending the Gaza conflict would help him gain entrance to heaven.
“I’m being a little cute,” Trump replied, smiling and laughing. “I don’t think there’s anything going to get me in heaven. I think I’m not maybe heaven-bound. I may be in heaven right now as we fly on Air Force One. I’m not sure I’m going to be able to make heaven, but I’ve made life a lot better for a lot of people,” he added.
Trump then took pride in his diplomatic abilities, asserting that the dispute between Israel and Hamas would be “the eighth war that I’ve solved.”
On Monday, Hamas released the last 20 Israeli hostages in exchange for about 2,000 Palestinian detainees. The Israeli military had previously stopped offensive maneuvers and pulled back from several areas of the Gaza Strip.
Later that day, Trump, together with the leaders of Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye, endorsed a declaration in Sharm el-Sheikh, located in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, supporting the ceasefire and a roadmap toward “comprehensive and durable peace arrangements.”
Trump’s 20-point peace proposal advocates for Gaza to become a “deradicalized terror-free zone.”
While Hamas agreed to the prisoner exchange described in the plan, it declined to disarm or relinquish control in the Palestinian territory.
Meanwhile, Israel has yet to agree to a full retreat from the Gaza Strip.
